Circle Styling

Circle Styling allows you to control how your Circle looks, feels, and behaves for members. These settings define the visual layout, navigation structure, and interface behavior—helping you shape everything from a clean learning portal to a fully immersive, app-like community experience.

Circle Styling affects presentation only.

All actual content – pages, page groups, lessons, courses, and community areas – is still created and managed inside the Circle editor.

How to Access Circle Styling

You can access Circle Styling in two places within the Circle Editor:

  1. From the Circle Settings icon

While inside the Circle editor, click the cog icon in the top navigation bar and select Circle Styling

  2. From the Paint Brush icon

While inside the Circle editor, click the paint brush icon in the top navigation bar

Both options open the same Circle Styling panel, where you configure parent-level styling for the entire Circle.

This setting defines how the main sidebar navigation is displayed.

  • Compact – A condensed layout that saves space and works well for content-heavy Circles or minimal designs.
  • Wide – A more spacious layout that improves readability and hierarchy.

Recommended for programs, memberships, and communities with multiple sections.

💡 Note

The option you select here becomes the default view when members enter the Circle.

Add Expand / Collapse Button

Enables a small arrow icon in the sidebar that allows members to expand or collapse the navigation.

  • Gives members control over focus vs overview
  • Ideal for desktop users
  • Strongly recommended for immersive, app-like layouts

💡 Note

If disabled the sidebar will stay compact or wide, and can't be manually expanded/collapsed by the user.

Add Profile Button

Adds a profile shortcut at the top of the sidebar.

From here, members can:

  • Access their profile
  • Review purchases
  • Manage account details

This improves usability in Circles where member identity, progress, or interaction matters.

Padding, Corners & Subtle UI Enhancements

Add Circle Padding

Adds spacing around the entire Circle wrapper.

  • Creates a framed, website-style layout
  • Can be disabled for full-bleed, immersive designs

Padding Size

Visible only when padding is enabled.

  • Adjusts how much space surrounds the Circle
  • Useful for fine-tuning balance and visual comfort

Round Corners

Rounds the edges of the Circle container.

  • Creates a softer, more modern feel
  • Often paired with shadows for depth

Backgrounds, Theme & Contrast

Background Colors

You can configure:

  • Circle Background Color
  • Sidebar Background Color

Use these to:

  • Match your brand palette
  • Improve contrast
  • Separate navigation from content

Dark Theme

Enables a dark interface theme for the Circle.

  • Reduces eye strain
  • Ideal for video-heavy or long-form content
  • Should align with your overall brand identity

Controls the width of the sidebar in pixels.

  • Useful for long page names
  • Helps balance navigation clarity with content space

Fix Height Relative to Viewport

Keeps the Circle navigation fixed relative to the browser height.

  • Prevents navigation jumping
  • Creates a stable, app-like experience
  • Recommended for structured programs and learning paths

When enabled, you can also adjust the Fixed Height (%), typically set to 100%.

Shadows & Depth

Add Shadow

Adds visual depth around the Circle wrapper.

Available options:

  • No Shadow – Flat design
  • Outer Shadow – Elevated, floating effect
  • Inner Shadow – Recessed appearance

Shadow options only appear once Add Shadow is enabled.

Circle Image

Adding a Circle image strengthens visual identity and recognition.

You can choose between:

  • Icon – Minimal, clean look using built-in icon library
  • Image – Strong brand reinforcement by uploading your own image, logo or icon
  • None

Customization options include:

  • Image or icon size
  • Background color
  • Icon color
  • Icon background color

The Circle image appears in navigation and helps members quickly recognize the Circle – especially useful when multiple Circles exist.

Text Styling

Text Styling ensures typographic consistency across your Circle.

You can configure:

  • Circle Name font & size
  • Page Name font & size
  • Text colors
  • Badge text and background colors

This allows you to:

  • Match brand typography
  • Improve readability
  • Establish a clear hierarchy

Icon Styling

Icons shape how intuitive and polished the navigation feels.

With Icon Styling, you can:

  • Change icon colors
  • Set icon background colors
  • Add optional icon borders

This helps align navigation visuals with your brand and improves usability.

Where to Show Group Submenu Items (Navigation Structure)

This is one of the most important styling decisions, as it controls how Page Groups and their subpages are displayed.

You have three submenu display options:

1. Inline Below Group Name

Subpages appear directly underneath the group name in the main menu.

  • Clean, nested structure
  • Subpages are visible at a glance
  • Indicated with a + icon

Best for:

  • Smaller Circles
  • Simple course structures
  • Clear, linear navigation

2. Slide Submenu Over the Menu

Clicking a group slides the submenu over the main menu.

  • Space-efficient
  • Dynamic and modern feel
  • Includes arrow indicators and a back button

Best for:

  • Medium-sized Circles
  • Programs with multiple modules
  • Keeping the main menu uncluttered

3. Its Own Sidebar Navigation

Subpages open in a separate sidebar.

  • Dedicated navigation space
  • Clear separation between levels
  • Highly scalable

You can also:

  • Choose left or right sidebar positioning
  • Apply independent background and styling

Best for:

  • Large memberships
  • Complex learning paths
  • Communities with deep hierarchies

This option also unlocks enhanced styling controls, including:

  • Sidebar position
  • Background colors
  • Button and badge styling

Best Practices

  • Use Wide sidebar + fixed height for app-like experiences
  • Choose submenu behavior early – it impacts usability at scale
  • Avoid excessive padding for learning-focused Circles
  • Use consistent typography and icon styles across Circles
  • Test navigation on both desktop and mobile

Summary

Circle Styling allows you to:

  • Control layout and navigation behavior
  • Customize colors, typography, and icons
  • Define how groups and subpages are presented
  • Create immersive, scalable Circle experiences
  • Align your Circle interface with your brand

By combining Circle Styling, Access Levels, and Categories, you can build Circles that are not only functional—but intuitive, polished, and ready to scale.
