How to Create and Manage Discounts

Discounts in Recrevio allow you to incentivize purchases, reward loyalty, increase conversion rates, and run targeted promotions across your store, funnels, and memberships.

You can create three types of discounts:

  • Flat Discount – fixed monetary amount off
  • Percent Discount – percentage-based reduction
  • Free Shipping – removes shipping cost entirely

All discount types share a common structure and many settings, with a few important differences explained below.

To manage all discounts in your account, go to Products > Discounts

This opens the Discounts overview, where all created discounts are listed in one place.

In this view, you can:

  • See all active and inactive discounts
  • View discount type (Flat, Percentage, Free Shipping)
  • Check validity dates (Valid From / Valid To)
  • Monitor usage status
  • Quickly edit, disable, or delete discounts
  • Create a new discount by clicking Add Discount

The Discounts overview acts as your central control panel for managing promotions across products, categories, member groups, and orders.

Creating a Discount

To create a new discount, click Add Discount in the top-right corner of the Discounts overview.

This opens the Add Discount dialog, where you configure how the discount works and where it applies. When creating a discount, you’ll choose and define the following

  • Discount type

The discount type determines which fields and options are available in the editor.

    • Flat Discount
    • Percent Discount
    • Free Shipping
  • Discount name
  • Discount code (optional)
  • Usage limits (optional)
  • Stacking behavior
    • Allow or disallow combining with other discounts
  • Automatic application
    • Apply automatically or require a discount code
  • Discount value (amount or percentage, depending on type)
  • Validity period
    • Start date (Valid From)
    • End date (Valid To)
  • Scope
    • What the discount applies to (all orders, orders over specified amount, products, categories, or member groups)

Each of these settings is explained in detail in the sections below, including best practices and common use cases for each discount type.

Discount Types – When to Use What

Flat Discount

A Flat Discount subtracts a fixed amount from the order total.

Best for:

  • Simple, clear offers (e.g. “$20 off”)
  • High-priced products or services
  • Limited-time promotions

Example use cases:

  • $50 off a coaching package
  • $10 off any physical product
  • Fixed welcome discount for new customers

Percent Discount

A Percent Discount reduces the price by a percentage.

Best for:

  • Storewide sales
  • Seasonal promotions
  • Category- or product-based campaigns

Example use cases:

  • 20% off all digital products
  • 15% off memberships for the first month
  • Black Friday sale across categories

Free Shipping

Free Shipping removes the shipping cost entirely.

Best for:

  • Physical products
  • Increasing conversion by removing shipping friction
  • Promotions with cart or order value thresholds

Example use cases:

  • Free shipping on orders over $100
  • Free shipping for members
  • Limited-time free shipping campaigns

💡 Note

Free Shipping discounts do not include a discount value field or automatic application logic, since the benefit is strictly removing shipping cost.

Free Shipping – Key Differences

Free Shipping discounts:

  • Do not include:

  • Follow this targeting logic:
    • All orders
    • Orders over (minimum order value)
    • Member Groups

Best use cases:

  • Physical product promotions
  • Cart abandonment reduction
  • Loyalty or member-only benefits

Best Practices for Discounts

  • Match discount type to intent

Flat = clarity, Percent = flexibility, Free Shipping = conversion boost

  • Be explicit about eligibility

    Especially for memberships and subscriptions

  • Use automatic discounts carefully

    They affect recurring payments

    Avoid over-stacking discounts

Especially on subscriptions and high-ticket products

    Test before launch

    Always test checkout behavior with:

    • One-time purchases
    • Subscriptions
    • Installments

💡 Tip

Well-structured discounts can significantly increase conversions — poorly scoped discounts can silently erode revenue. Always align discounts with your pricing strategy.
