How to use Notifications
Keeping your members informed, engaged, and connected is key to boosting retention and interaction. With Notification Settings, you can:
- Mention members – Tag users directly to grab their attention.
- Send system emails – Ensure notifications reach members even if they miss community alerts.
- Keep engagement high – Automated updates make sure your community stays active and responsive.
A simple yet effective way to enhance communication and strengthen member participation!
💡 Top Tip – Keep Notifications Relevant & Balanced
While notifications are great for keeping members engaged, overuse can feel intrusive and even lead to disengagement.
- Use Sparingly – Only send updates that are truly valuable or time-sensitive.
- Avoid Spam – If members get flooded with alerts, they may start ignoring them.
- Personalized Mentions – Tag users only when necessary, ensuring messages feel meaningful rather than disruptive.
A well-balanced approach ensures strong engagement without overwhelming your community!
Turn on Notifications
To activate notifications and ensure members stay engaged, just navigate to Web Studio > Website Settings > General Settings.

Within the General Settings menu, you'll find two key options:
- Enable Notifications – Turn this on to ensure members receive updates, mentions, and system alerts.
- Use Dark Theme – Once notifications are enabled you can switch to a darker interface for a sleek, visually comfortable experience, ideal for low-light environments – if preferred.
Notification Icon & Side Bar
After activating notifications in the settings menu, head back to the Web Studio or one of your Circles:
- You’ll notice a notification tab with a bell icon in the top right corner of the screen.
- This tab allows your users to view different kinds of notifications, keeping them informed in real time.
When users click the notification bell icon, a slide-out box will appear, displaying all relevant notifications, grouped into different categories to make them easier to manage:
- All → shows all notifications.
- Social → notifications related to community activity and interactions.
- Store → notifications related to purchases, orders, or store activity.
- Unread → shows only notifications you haven’t read yet.
To quickly clear your list, you can use Mark all as read, which marks all notifications as read at once.
Notifications are automatically updated as new events occur, helping users stay informed without leaving the platform. Clicking a notification takes the user directly to the relevant content or details, giving them instant access to more information.

Social notifications
- Mentions – Get notified when someone mentions you in a post or comment.
- Comments & Reactions – Get notified when someone comments on or reacts to your content.
Clicking an alert takes users straight to the relevant post, comment, or mention, ensuring instant access.
Store notifications
- Successful orders – Users get notified when a successful payment is done.
- Order updates – Users get notified when an order status changes or requires attention.
Clicking an alert takes users straight to the Order history in their Member profile, ensuring instant access to more information on their order.
Automatic Email Reminder for Unread Notifications
If a member does not engage with a notification within 20 minutes, the system will send an automated email.
How It Works:
- Ensures members don’t miss important updates by delivering an email prompt.
- Helps maintain active engagement even if a user is away from the platform.
- Redirects recipients directly to the relevant post, comment, or mention for seamless access.
How to use Mentions
Mentions are a powerful way to grab a member’s attention or notify an entire group at once. Use mentions strategically to maintain interaction without overwhelming members.
- Tag Individual Members – Use @username to directly mention someone, ensuring they receive a notification.
- Notify Everyone – Use @everyone to send an alert to all members in the community, perfect for important updates.
- Boost Engagement – Mentions encourage quick responses and keep conversations active.
When tagging a @username or @everyone, start typing the first few letters and wait for the suggestion list to appear. Then select the option you want to confirm the mention.

💡Tip: To mention everyone, you can also use @all or @everybody, as well as equivalent tags in the local language configured for your website.
⚠️ Important: To use the @everyone, @all, @everybody tags, you need to be an Admin.
