How to Use Sales Tracking Links

Sales tracking links allow you to track revenue and conversions even when sales don’t come directly from campaigns or automations. By generating tracking links with UTM parameters, you can attribute sales to specific sources, channels, and initiatives—no matter where the link is shared.

This article explains:

  • What sales tracking links are
  • What UTM parameters mean and how they work
  • How to generate tracking links in Recrevio
  • How and where to use them
  • How tracking links connect to Sales Overview and Analytics

💡 Note

This article shows how to create sales tracking links that you can share anywhere – for example in social media, ads, partners, or external tools – and still track revenue inside Recrevio.

If you want to create and analyze built-in sales tracking links inside campaigns and automations, see:

A sales tracking link is a regular page URL with UTM parameters added to it. These parameters tell Recrevio where a visitor came from and which initiative drove the sale.

When someone clicks a tracking link and later completes a purchase, Recrevio can connect the full journey:

Link → Visit → Checkout → Order

This makes it possible to measure revenue from:

  • Social media posts
  • Paid ads
  • Affiliate links
  • Influencer collaborations
  • Manual outreach
  • Blog content
  • QR codes
  • Any external platform that links to your site

What Are UTM Parameters?

UTM parameters are small pieces of information added to the end of a URL. They don’t affect the page itself, but they pass tracking data to the analytics system.

Example:

https://www.yourdomain.com/offer?utm_source=facebook &utm_medium=social &utm_campaign=summer_launch

Core UTM fields used in Recrevio

💡 Tip

Use consistent naming across campaigns, automations, and tracking links to keep reporting clean.

Step 3: Copy the Generated Tracking URL

Recrevio automatically generates your full tracking link.

Example:

https://www.recrevio.com/offer ?utm_source=facebook &utm_medium=social &utm_campaign=spring_promo

Click Copy and use this link anywhere you want to drive traffic.

Tracking links can be shared anywhere, including:

  • Social media posts
  • Paid ads
  • Influencer or affiliate links
  • Blog posts
  • QR codes
  • Chat messages
  • External newsletters
  • Partner websites

They work independently of campaigns and automations.

Once someone purchases after clicking a tracking link, the sale will appear in:

  • Sales Overview
  • Top Sources
  • Top Performers
  • Product-level revenue
  • Subscription and MRR reports

Sales are grouped by UTM Source, UTM Medium, and UTM Campaign, allowing you to clearly see which channels and initiatives generate revenue.

Sales tracking links work perfectly alongside built-in sales tracking in:

  • Email campaigns
  • SMS campaigns
  • WhatsApp campaigns
  • Automation message steps

👉 See:

💡 Note

Voice messages do not support sales tracking, since they don’t contain clickable links.

  • Use clear, consistent naming for UTMs
  • Avoid reusing the same campaign name for unrelated initiatives
  • Use lowercase and underscores for readability
  • Keep source and medium generic, and campaign specific
  • Document your naming conventions if multiple people work in the account
