ShipStation Integration in Recrevio
Connect ShipStation to your store to automate shipping rates and order fulfillment.
Once connected, your orders can automatically be sent to ShipStation, where you can manage carriers, create shipping labels, and handle fulfillment without manually exporting or copying order information.
ShipStation can also make your configured shipping options and calculated shipping costs available during checkout.
This article explains how to connect ShipStation to your store and what happens after the integration is active.
Before you start
To connect ShipStation, you need:
- An active ShipStation account
- Access to your ShipStation API settings
- Permission to create an API key
- Access to your store settings in Recrevio
You will generate the required API credentials in ShipStation and then add them to your store.
💡 Tip
Keep your API credentials private. Treat them like passwords and only add them to services you trust.
Create your ShipStation API credentials
Start by signing in to your ShipStation account.
Open API Settings
In your ShipStation dashboard, go to:
Account > API Settings

Generate an API key
On the API Settings page, select Generate API KEY.

Select the API expiration period you want to use and click Generate.

ShipStation will then display your new API credentials.
You will need the API Key and Secret Key in the next step.
💡 Tip
Copy both credentials before leaving this page and store them somewhere secure while completing the setup.
Connect ShipStation to your store
Return to your Recrevio dashboard.
Open the integration settings
Go to Sales & Analytics > Shipping > Select Add Integration.

Select ShipStation
Choose ShipStation from the available integrations.

Add your API credentials
Paste your:
- ShipStation API Key
- ShipStation Secret Key
into the corresponding fields.

Once the credentials have been added successfully, ShipStation is connected to your store.
Shipping options at checkout
After ShipStation is connected, available shipping services from your ShipStation setup can be displayed during checkout.
Customers can then select from the available shipping options, and the corresponding shipping cost is calculated and added to the order.

💡 Tip
Before launching, place a test order and confirm that the expected shipping services and prices appear correctly in checkout.
What happens when an order is placed
Once an order using ShipStation shipping has been processed, the order is sent to ShipStation.
You can then manage fulfillment from your ShipStation account.
Order appears in ShipStation
The order will be available in your ShipStation orders dashboard.
From there, you can continue your normal ShipStation workflow for shipping and fulfillment.
This removes the need to manually export order information from your store and recreate the shipment in ShipStation.
Customer notifications
Your customer will also receive the relevant system email connected to the order and shipping process.

Make sure your system emails are configured with the correct sender information and branding before accepting live orders.
If ShipStation stops working
If the integration has previously worked but stops connecting, check your ShipStation API credentials first.
API keys can have an expiration period. If the key has expired, you may need to generate a new API key in ShipStation and update the integration in Recrevio.
Also check that:
- Your ShipStation account is active
- The API credentials were entered correctly
- The expected carriers and services are active in ShipStation
- Your products and orders contain the information required for shipping
- Shipping options appear correctly in a test checkout
ShipStation vs other shipping integrations
ShipStation is primarily a shipping and carrier-management tool for businesses that store, pick, and pack their own products but want better tools for shipping rates, carriers, labels, and shipment management.
Other integrations solve different needs. Shippo offers a similar carrier and shipping workflow, while ShipBob handles outsourced warehousing and fulfillment, and Printful produces and fulfills print-on-demand products.
