Video widget
The Video widget allows you to display video content on your website in a flexible way—either by using native hosted videos or by embedding videos from external platforms.
This makes it easy to choose the right setup depending on your goals: branding, access control, performance, or simplicity.
Video hosting options
When adding a video, you can choose between two hosting methods:
1. Hosted Video (Native)
Fully built into your platform
Gives you full control over playback, appearance, captions, chapters, and engagement
Ideal for:
- Courses and memberships
- Exclusive or gated content
- Branded video experiences
This option keeps everything internal and provides the most customization.
2. Video Link (External)
Embed videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, and similar platforms
No upload required—just paste the video URL
Best for:
- Public-facing content
- Videos already hosted elsewhere
- Quick embeds with minimal setup
This option is fast and flexible, but with fewer customization options.
💡 Not uploaded a video yet?
If you want to use hosted videos, follow this step-by-steg guide on how to upload videos in the Video Manager.
💡 Tip – When to use which option?
Use Hosted Video if you want:
- Full branding control
- Engagement features
- Courses, memberships, or gated content
Use Video Link if you want:
- Quick embedding
- External hosting
- Minimal setup
Adding a video to a page
To add a video (hosted or external):
- Go to the Widget tab
- Drag and drop the Video widget onto your page
Once placed, the video settings panel will open automatically.
Editing the Video Widget
After adding the widget, you can choose how the video should be added:
- Upload or select a hosted video (native)
- Use a video link (external)
Both options are available from the same settings panel.
Using a Video Link (external videos)
Choose this option if you want to embed a video from platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, or Loom.
How it works
- Select Use link
- Paste the video URL
- Adjust display options to match your design

Available display options
Custom Thumbnail
Upload your own thumbnail from the File Manager instead of using the default one from the video platform.
Custom Video Player
Applies your brand colors and a cleaner toolbar for a more native look.
Shadow Effect
Adds visual depth around the video (not available when using the Custom Video Player).
⚠️ Note
If the Custom Video Player is enabled, shadow effects cannot be applied.
These settings help external videos blend seamlessly into your website design.
Using Hosted Video (native videos)
Hosted videos offer the most control and the richest feature set.
Why use hosted videos?
Full display control
Customize thumbnails, player appearance, and layout details.
Playback behavior
Control autoplay, looping, visibility, and responsiveness.
Engagement features
Enable:
- Comments
- Reactions
- View counters
This creates a truly native, interactive experience inside your platform.
Adding a hosted video
After placing the Video widget:
- Select an existing uploaded video, or
- Upload a new video directly from the widget
All uploaded videos are managed centrally in the Video Manager.

Customizing hosted video settings
Once a hosted video is selected, you can fully control how the video behaves, looks, and how viewers interact with it. Each setting is optional and can be enabled or disabled depending on your use case.
Playback & behavior settings
Remove controls
Hides the video player controls for a clean, distraction-free viewing experience.
Autoplay video
Starts playing the video automatically when the page loads.
(Note: autoplay behavior may be limited by browser policies.)
Loop video
Automatically restarts the video when it reaches the end.
Pause video on lost focus
Pauses the video when the user switches tabs or navigates away from the page where the video is playing.
Keep video aspect ratio
Preserves the original proportions of the video to prevent stretching or distortion when resizing.
Visual & layout settings
Use video loop as thumbnail
Uses a short looping section of the video as the thumbnail preview.
The loop must be at least 0.5 seconds and no longer than 5 seconds.
Show video title
Displays the video title above or near the video player.
Show video description
Displays the video description, providing context, instructions, or additional information.
Engagement & interaction settings
Show comments
Allows viewers to comment directly on the video.
Show manual “Watched”
Enables users to manually mark the video as Watched.
Especially useful for courses, programs, and structured learning content.
Show reactions
Enables emoji reactions so viewers can quickly respond to the video.
Show number of views
Displays the total number of times the video has been viewed.
Learning & accessibility features
Captions
Allows you to add subtitles (VTT format) for accessibility and improved comprehension. Viewers can toggle captions on or off using the CC icon.
Video chapters
Lets you divide the video into chapters with timestamps, making it easier to navigate longer content.
💡 Tips – How to use these settings effectively
Not every video needs every feature enabled:
Landing pages & marketing videos
Use minimal controls, autoplay, and hide comments for a focused experience.
Courses & programs
Enable watched status, chapters, captions, and comments to support learning.
Community content
Enable comments, reactions, and view counters to encourage interaction.
By combining these settings, you can create video experiences that feel intentional, branded, and perfectly suited to your content strategy.
