Circle Settings

Circle Settings allow you to fine-tune how the Circle is presented, accessed, and experienced by members. These settings control the Circle’s identity, visibility, access behavior, categorization, and integrations – while the actual content and structure live inside the Circle itself.

Note

This article covers Circle Settings for an individual Circle. For more information on how to configure the Global Circle Settings, plesase read this article instead: Circle Settings (Global)

This panel contains all configuration options described below.

Core Circle Settings

Circle Name

The Circle Name is the main identifier for your Circle.

  • Displayed in navigation and Circle listings
  • Visible to members
  • Used as the base for internal references

💡 Tip

Choose a clear, descriptive name that reflects the purpose of the Circle (e.g. Growth Program, Member Hub, Course Library).

Circle URL

The Circle URL defines the unique address for this Circle.

  • Used when sharing the Circle with members
  • Appears in the browser address bar
  • Automatically generated but editable

Example:

yourdomain.com/portal/circle-name

💡 Tip

Keep URLs short and readable. Avoid changing URLs after launch if the Circle is already shared in emails, funnels, or onboarding flows.

Circle Description

The Circle Description is a short supporting text shown below the Circle title in navigation.

  • Helps members understand what the Circle is about
  • Improves clarity when you have multiple Circles
  • Optional, but recommended

Use this for:

  • Explaining the purpose of the Circle
  • Setting expectations
  • Clarifying who the Circle is for

Visibility & Display Options

These toggles control what information is shown to members in the Circle navigation.

Show Circle Avatar / Icon

Displays the Circle avatar or icon above the Circle title.

  • Improves visual recognition
  • Recommended when running multiple Circles

Show Circle Members

Shows the member list inside the Circle.

  • Enables social visibility
  • Useful for community-driven Circles

Show Circle Member Count

Displays the total number of members below the Circle title.

  • Helps communicate activity and popularity
  • Often used for memberships and communities

Show Circle Description

Shows the Circle Description below the Circle title in navigation.

  • Reinforces clarity
  • Useful when Circles have similar names

Show Tracking Progress

Displays learning progress indicators in navigation.

  • Shows completion status for tracked content
  • Only visible if tracking is enabled on content inside the Circle

💡 Note

This option only appears if your Circle contains content with progress tracking enabled.

Access Levels (Circle-Wide Access Control)

Each Circle has a primary access level that controls who can enter the Circle.

The access level set here applies to the entire Circle. However, access can also be controlled at:

  • Page Group level
  • Individual Page level

This allows you to mix free and paid content, create previews, and build multi-tier experiences within the same Circle.

👉 For a complete breakdown of access logic, use cases, and best practices, see: Access Levels in Circles

Available Access Levels include

  • Open

    The Circle is publicly accessible.

Anyone can view the content without logging in, and the content can be indexed by search engines.

Best for public communities, free resources, and preview content.

  • Logged-in Members

Only users who are logged in can access the Circle.

No payment or group membership is required.

Best for freebies, free member areas, trials, or internal portals.

  • Members of a Group

Access is limited to members of one or more Member Groups.

Groups can be assigned manually or automatically via products, subscriptions, or automations.

This is the most flexible option for selling access, bundling Circles, and building tiered memberships.

  • Payment Required

Access is granted only after a direct payment.

Simple and fast setup, typically tied to one product or subscription.

Best for standalone paid programs or single-offer memberships.

Circle Categories (Organization & Discovery)

Circle Categories help you organize, group, and surface Circles in a structured way—especially important when managing multiple Circles.

Categories allow you to:

  • Group Circles by topic, program, or purpose
  • Create filter tabs for members
  • Improve navigation and scalability
  • Present Circles more like a curated library or hub

Categories are applied per Circle but managed centrally.

Circle Styling

Circle Styling controls the visual layout and interface behavior of your Circle. These settings affect how the Circle navigation, sidebar, and overall experience look and feel for members, helping you create either a clean portal-style layout or a more immersive, app-like experience.

From this panel, you can fine-tune both layout structure and visual details, without affecting the actual content inside the Circle.

You can control how the Circle sidebar behaves and appears:

  • Sidebar Style

Choose between different sidebar layouts (e.g. Wide) to control navigation density and readability.

  • Expand / Collapse Button

Adds a toggle arrow that allows members to expand or collapse the sidebar for better focus on content.

  • Profile Button

Displays a quick-access button at the top of the sidebar, allowing members to open their profile directly from the Circle.

  • Navigation Width

Adjust the width of the sidebar in pixels to match your content structure and design preferences.

  • Fix Height Relative to Viewport

Keeps the Circle navigation fixed relative to the viewport height, creating a more stable, app-like layout—especially useful for longer content structures.

Spacing, Theme & Visual Enhancements

These options help refine the overall look and polish of your Circle:

  • Add Circle Padding

Adds spacing around the Circle wrapper for a more traditional website feel.

  • Dark Theme

Enables a dark interface theme for the Circle.

  • Round Corners & Shadow

Adds subtle UI depth and softness to the Circle container.

Styling Subsections

For more detailed control, you can open dedicated styling panels:

  • Circle Image – Configure the main Circle image or visual identity
  • Text Styling – Adjust typography for headings and navigation
  • Icons Styling – Customize icon appearance
  • Sidebar Styling – Control colors, backgrounds, and detailed sidebar visuals

Group Submenu Placement

You can also decide where group submenu items are displayed, such as keeping them inside their own sidebar navigation for clearer structure and scalability.

💡 Tip

Circle Styling affects the presentation layer only. All content structure – pages, page groups, courses, and lessons – is still managed inside the Circle editor.

  • Apply tags
  • Trigger automations
  • Segment users for marketing or onboarding

Use Select Tags to assign tags that are applied immediately upon enrollment.

Connect to Email Marketing

You can connect a new member to your email marketing system when they register:

  • Automatically add members to lists
  • Trigger onboarding sequences
  • Send updates or campaigns

Click Select Lists to choose which email lists members should be added to.

  • Define the Circle’s identity and URL
  • Control visibility and progress indicators
