Comments Area Widget

The Comments Area Widget lets you add a dedicated discussion area to any page, blog post, funnel step, popup, circle and more. It enables members to comment, react, and engage directly with specific content—turning static pages into interactive experiences.

With the Comments Widget, members can:

  • Share thoughts, questions, and feedback directly on a page
  • Engage through comments, likes, and reactions
  • Participate in structured discussions tied to specific content

Below is an example of how the Comments Widget appears on a standard page, showing its clean and intuitive layout.

Naming Your Comment Widget

Each Comments Widget must have a name. This name is used to identify and manage the widget across your site.

You can create multiple comment widgets and reuse them across different pages. Naming your widgets allows you to:

  • Reuse the same comment thread across multiple pages
  • Keep discussions consistent across related content
  • Easily identify and manage widgets in your setup

When you click the Enter name field, you’ll see a list of all existing comment widgets, making it easy to reuse or create new ones.

Who Can Comment

You can control who is allowed to post comments by selecting one of the following options.

  • Only Admins – Admins only
  • Admins and Moderators – Admins & Moderator only
  • All Members – Any logged-in member

This gives you full flexibility depending on whether you want open discussions or more controlled conversations.

💡 Important note – Member Registration Required for Social Interaction

To comment, react, or participate in any social features inside Recrevio, users must be registered and logged in as members.

This applies to all social and community-based widgets and areas, including:

  • Comments
  • Discussions
  • Walls /Forums
  • Reviews

Only logged-in members can:

  • Write comments or replies
  • React to content (likes, emojis, etc.)
  • Mention other members
  • Participate in discussions or threads

Visitors who are not logged in can view content (if access levels allow it), but they cannot interact until they have created a member account and logged in.

💡 Why this matters

Requiring member registration ensures:

  • Clear identity and accountability in discussions
  • Better moderation and role-based permissions
  • Accurate engagement tracking and notifications
  • A safer, more structured community experience

If interaction is an important part of your experience (comments, discussions, community), make sure:

  • Member registration is enabled
  • Access levels allow logged-in members to view the content

This creates a smooth and secure foundation for meaningful engagement inside your Circles and social areas.

Comment Approval

You can choose whether comments require approval before being published.

  • When approval is enabled, comments are held for review
  • Comments appear in the moderation area until approved
  • Once approved, comments become visible to everyone

This is useful for maintaining quality, preventing spam, and moderating sensitive discussions.

Approving Comments

To review and manage comments awaiting approval:

  1. Go to the Community tab
  2. Open Moderation
  3. Select Awaiting Approval
  4. Approve or delete comments as needed

This workflow ensures you stay in control of all discussions.

Allow Images

You can choose whether members are allowed to attach images to their comments.

  • Enabled – Members can upload images to enrich discussions
  • Disabled – Comments are text-only

This setting helps you tailor discussions to your community’s tone and purpose.

Allow Mentions

When mentions are enabled, members can tag others using the @ symbol.

Mentions allow members to:

  • Notify specific users directly
  • Pull others into a discussion
  • Increase engagement and responsiveness

How it works:

  • Type @ followed by the member’s name
  • Select the member from the dropdown
  • The mentioned user receives a notification

💡 Notification behavior

Mentioned members receive an automated notification email after 20 minutes  if they have not read the comment in the platform, ensuring they don’t miss the interaction.

Comment Order

Comment Display Order

You can control how comments are displayed to shape the flow and feel of the conversation. Choose the order that best fits your content and engagement goals.

Ascending (Oldest First)

Comments are shown in chronological order, starting with the oldest comment at the top and the newest at the bottom.

This layout is ideal when you want to:

  • Preserve the full conversation history from start to finish
  • Follow discussions step by step
  • Use comments as long-form feedback or structured dialogue

In Ascending order:

  • The first comment appears at the top
  • New comments are added at the bottom
  • The comment input field appears below the existing comments

Descending (Newest First)

Comments are shown with the most recent comment at the top and older comments below.

This layout is often preferred for active or ongoing discussions because it keeps the latest interactions immediately visible.

In Descending order:

  • The newest comments appear at the top
  • The comment input field is positioned at the top of the feed
  • Members can engage instantly without scrolling
  • Conversations feel more dynamic and accessible

Choose Ascending when context and history matter most, and Descending when you want to prioritize real-time engagement and quick interaction.

Initial Number of Comments to Display

This setting controls how many comments are shown initially.

You can choose to display:

  • 3
  • 5
  • 10

Additional comments are loaded as needed, keeping the layout clean and easy to navigate.

Use Dark Theme

The Dark Theme option allows the Comments Widget to better match darker page designs.

Use this when:

  • Your page background is dark
  • You want visual consistency across the site
  • You want comments to feel fully integrated into the design

The dark theme improves readability and creates a cohesive user experience.

Summary

The Comments Widget allows you to:

  • Add interactive discussions anywhere on your site
  • Control who can comment and how conversations are moderated
  • Enable mentions, images, and reactions
  • Manage comment order and visibility
  • Match the widget visually to your site’s design

By using the Comments Widget thoughtfully, you can turn content into conversations—and pages into living community spaces.
